FCT Police give update on VeryDarkMan’s ₦180m NGO fraud allegation
The FCT Police deny involvement in the ₦180 million fraud case linked to VeryDarkMan’s NGO, as skepticism grows around his claims of stolen funds.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has distanced itself from the ongoing ₦180 million fraud controversy linked to Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), the social media figure at the center of the allegations.
When approached for comment, FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh confirmed on Saturday that the command is not involved in any investigation related to VDM's claims. Adeh clarified, “The FCT Police Command is not aware of any case involving VDM’s missing funds and is not conducting any investigation into it. The individual should clarify where the matter was reported, as we have no record of such a case.”
This comes after Otse took to Instagram on Friday, alleging that ₦180 million had been illegally siphoned from his NGO’s account following a website hack, leaving only ₦20 million behind. He further revealed that one suspect had been arrested and hinted that efforts were underway to recover the remaining funds.
Otse shared, “I’ve not been myself these past few days. Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and ₦180 million is missing. Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and one suspect has been arrested. The account is now on PND (Post No Debit), and we’re heading to Jos to recover the money.”
Despite his assertions, skepticism continues to grow as doubts about the credibility of his claims circulate online. Many are calling for further clarity regarding the reported incident.
