Fabiyi alleges assassination attempt, flees Nigeria
Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi flees Nigeria after escaping an assassination attempt, citing threats to his life over his involvement in the Mohbad case.
Popular Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has fled Nigeria after narrowly escaping an alleged assassination attempt. The actor revealed this shocking development following his absence from the late singer Mohbad's Coroner inquest and his failure to lead a planned protest at the Lagos State Assembly on Monday, September 30, 2024.
Fabiyi had organized a protest to coincide with the resumption of the coroner's investigation into Mohbad’s death. However, addressing his unexpected absence, he disclosed in a controversial Instagram video that his life had been in imminent danger. He claimed to have narrowly escaped an assassination attempt just two days prior and revealed that a further plot to take his life was in motion.
"I escaped assassination two days ago, and they still planned to kill me tonight. If they had succeeded, I would have been buried tomorrow," Fabiyi stated. "They want to waste me because I’m fighting for justice. I didn’t take money from anyone; I’m doing this for God. I had to flee for my life. I left Nigeria unplanned, and right now, I don’t even know my destination.”
Fabiyi’s harrowing confession has sparked widespread concern as he remains in hiding, uncertain of his next steps.
