#EndBadGovernance: Kano Protesters Fly Russian National Flag, Seek help from President Putin
On the third day of the protest, Kano State youths flocked the streets during the current #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria rallies, brandishing Russian flags and pleading for Russian President Vladimir Putin to step in.
On Thursday, August 1, Nigerians took to the streets for the first time, during President Tinubu's government demanding improved governance and an end to urgent problems including food inflation, general inflation, and exorbitant living expenses.
The protesters' dissatisfaction with the domestic government's handling of the economic crisis, which has worsened hunger and hardship, is highlighted by the uncommon flying of Russian flags.
The protesters' call for Putin to step in are a reflection of the growing unhappiness among Nigerians who believe President Bola Tinubu's government is not doing enough to address their complaints.
A sizable number of people attended the #EndBadGovernance demonstration as it happening in Kano State despite the curfew.
Residents, fed up with the status quo, flocked to the streets to demand better governance and an end to the high cost of living, general inflation, and food inflation. A significant number of Nigerians have ignored the government's attempts to put an end to the protests, including subtly threatening protestors, demonstrating their will and tenacity.
Nigeria is grappling with a staggering 40.87% food inflation rate, while general inflation persists, fueling widespread discontent among Nigerians regarding the government's policies.
Despite the government's efforts to address the situation through various policy initiatives, these measures have yet to yield meaningful results, exacerbating the growing unease among citizens.
