#EndBadGovernance: Gunshots fired to resist protesters
Frustrated with the existing administration, the protestors attempted to make their protest more forceful by blocking the main thoroughfare. In an effort to disperse #EndBadGovernance demonstrators who tried to close Tunga-Top Medical to City Gate Road in Minna, Niger State, on Thursday morning by setting tires on fire, police fired rounds into the air.
Earlier today, at Tunga, Minna's Top Medical Junction, Niger State, Nigeria, police opened fire into the air to disperse demonstrators obstructing the busy traffic.
Important sites like the Kpakungu Roundabout have been guarded by security forces, including the military and police. Local marketplaces and stores briefly shuttered in reaction to the commotion in order to prevent possible looting and guarantee safety.
After using tear gas to break up the crowd earlier, the demonstrators got back together and tried to block the major road once more. Officers shot into the air to get them to scatter.
Important locations, such the Kpakungu Roundabout on the Minna-Bida route, which had experienced protests earlier this year, have been taken over by security personnel, which include the police, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Nigeria Immigration Service.
In addition, stores and markets in the vicinity were shuttered because of worries about possible looting.
