EFCC arrests 33 suspected internet fraudsters in Port Harcourt, recovering fake U.S. dollars, forged FBI stamps, and more. Suspects to face charges after investigation.
Operatives of the Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 33 suspected internet fraudsters in Rivers State. The arrests, made on Tuesday, targeted individuals hiding in the Iwofe and Ogboro areas of Port Harcourt.
The EFCC revealed that the operation was based on credible intelligence linking the suspects to internet fraud activities. During the sting operation, various incriminating items were seized, including mobile devices, laptops, boxes of counterfeit U.S. dollars, forged FBI stamps, Customs documents, airport clearance, and fraudulent DHL and FedEx materials. Two cars were also recovered.
The EFCC confirmed that the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are completed.
