DPP indicts police inspector over Lagos Chief's Murder

In connection with the death of Chief Fatai Jubril, the Baale of the Lotu community in the state's Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Inspector Dikko Usman of the Nigeria Police Force and others have been charged by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions.  The police cop had been charged in court and fired from the force.

The DPP's advise, which was sent to the Assistant Inspector General of Police at Zone 2 Command Headquarters on Saturday, contained a thorough account of the inspector's indictment.

The advisory, signed by the DPP Deputy Director, Sunmonu Tunde, on behalf of the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, further stated that Dikko, along with Omotola Adeboyejo and Wasiu Agbaraojo, would be prosecuted for conspiracy to commit murder and murder.

It was signed by Sunmonu Tunde, the deputy director of the DPP, on behalf of the state attorney general and commissioner for justice.

According to reports, in the Ibeju-Lekki neighborhood of Lagos State, the late chief was shot and killed over a property dispute in front of his wife, Ejiro Jubril, and teenage daughter. The widow said that she was beaten up by roughly fifty thugs, including two Mobile Police officers, for attempting to stop her husband from being killed.

The DPP claimed that the ballistic report connected Jubril's death to rounds fired from Usman's gun, despite many eyewitness accounts claiming that the two Mobile Police personnel hired by Adeboyejo fired the shots that killed the dead. Part of the report said this: "According to the Medical Cause of Death Certificate dated August 23, 2023, issued by one Dr. O.O. Onayemi, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, one Chief Fatai Jubril Asalu was shot at on July 15, 2023, at Museyo community, Ajah, and died as a result of the gunshot injuries to the head."
