Doris Simeon opens up on emotional toll of custody battle with ex-husband
Nollywood actress Doris Simeon opens up about the emotional toll of her custody battle with ex-husband Daniel Ademinokan, revealing her struggles with depression and frustration after being separated from her son.
Nollywood star Doris Simeon opened up about her emotional struggles during a lengthy custody battle with her ex-husband, Daniel Ademinokan. In a candid chat with Biola Bayo on *Talk to B*, Simeon revealed that the experience left her battling deep frustration and depression, though she masked her pain due to her upbringing in a strong family.
She recounted how Ademinokan moved their son to the United States when he was just four years old, leaving her unable to fulfill her role as a mother. Doris heartbreakingly shared that the last time she truly mothered her child was when he was only three, and her efforts to maintain contact were often ignored.
Reflecting on the difficult situation, she explained, “I had my faults, and so did he, but the most painful part is not being allowed to mother my child. He took my son without my consent, and despite my calls, he would either ignore me or claim to be busy. Months would pass without any contact.”
She admitted the toll it took on her, but emphasized her determination to stay strong, as instilled by her parents. “I was broken inside, but I refused to show it. I knew I had to stay strong because that’s what I was taught—no matter what you’re going through in life, you keep going.”
