Diddy Denied Bail Again in Sex Trafficking Case, Faces May 2025 Trial
A federal appeals court has denied Sean "Diddy" Combs' request for bail while he awaits his May 2025 trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. Lawyers argue he's not a flight risk
A federal judge has decided to keep Sean "Diddy" Combs in jail as he waits for his trial in May for sex trafficking charges. On Friday, Judge William J. Nardini turned down Combs' latest request to be released while a group of three judges looks at his appeal for bail.
Combs, 54, was arrested on September 16. He is accused of using his celebrity status to take advantage of women in planned sexual events called "Freak Offs. " He has denied the charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and mistreating women for many years with the help of others.
His lawyers suggested a $50 million bail plan that would let Combs stay under house arrest at his mansion in Florida. However, the earlier judge decided that Combs was too dangerous and might disrupt the investigation or hurt witnesses.
Combs' lawyers say he won't run away because he is a famous person who has strong connections to his family and business. His new trial judge, Arun Subramanian, has scheduled the trial for May 5, 2025, but has not yet reconsidered bail.
