Adedeji Adeleke, father of renowned Nigerian-American musician Davido, has announced that his new 1,250MW thermal power plant will become operational in January 2025. Speaking at the Seventh Day Adventist General Conference Annual Council on October 15, 2024, Adeleke revealed that this $2 billion project will be the largest thermal power plant in Nigeria.
Adeleke shared his journey in securing the necessary environmental permits, facing challenges from difficult government officials. One official even remarked that the project would never "see the light of day." Refusing to accept this as a final verdict, the billionaire businessman turned to prayer for guidance.
Adeleke's company, Pacific Energy, collaborates with Chinese engineering firms to design and construct his power projects, solidifying their reputation in Nigeria's energy sector.
