Davido response to Sarah Martins restaurant comment

Nigerian music superstar Davido has made headlines once again, this time for his fiery response to actress Sarah Martins over comments regarding a supposed restaurant opening for his wife, Chioma Adeleke.

The controversy began when Sarah Martins suggested in a previous post (on May 26, 2025) that Davido should have opened a restaurant for Chioma or named it after her, given her reputation as a passionate chef. Martins wrote, “I honestly feel Davido’s restaurant should have been opened for Chioma or probably in her name because we’ve always known her to be a passionate fantastic chef.” She proposed the name “5ive Star Restaurant by Chef Chi,” tying it to Davido’s fifth studio album, “5,” and emphasized that her comment came from a place of admiration, not malice. However, Davido was quick to set the record straight.

In a direct comment on the post, he stated, “U no get sense… no restaurant was opened that was a promotional campaign with @foodcourt_app for my album 5️⃣… now take my wife’s picture off page.” His blunt response, accompanied by images of himself with Chioma in traditional attire and Chioma in a vibrant yellow outfit, underscored his protective stance and frustration over the misinformation.

The clarification revealed that the buzz around a “restaurant” was actually a promotional partnership with FoodCourt, a popular Nigerian food delivery app, to promote his album “5.” This campaign had been mistaken by some, including Martins, as an actual restaurant launch, leading to the misunderstanding. The online reaction was swift and varied. Some fans supported Davido’s directness, appreciating his effort to protect his wife’s image. @Demian✝️ (@life_of_demian) commented, “He loves his wife and don’t want her to be dragged for nothing,” while @AbidoShaker (@therealdotun1) quipped, “Mind your business, una no go hear. Shey you see now 🤣🤣.”

Others, however, felt Davido’s response was harsh, with @Roam Gosip (@Rozam1030) questioning, “Must Davido reply ever comment?” and @VivienVivicoko (@VivienVivicoko) noting, “He shouldn’t have responded to her. Everyone knows how everyone else should live their lives.” This incident highlights the ongoing scrutiny public figures like Davido face, especially regarding personal matters. The singer has a history of publicly supporting Chioma, often referring to her affectionately in his music and social media posts.

The mention of a potential restaurant for Chioma also echoes past sentiments, as a 2018 article from Vanguard News reported Davido announcing plans to open a restaurant for Chioma, though it appears those plans did not materialize in the way fans expected. The exchange has sparked broader conversations about celebrity privacy and the role of unsolicited advice in the digital age. While Martins intended her comment as a suggestion rooted in admiration, Davido’s response underscores his desire to control the narrative around his family and career.

The post continues to trend, with fans divided on the matter but united in their fascination with the unfolding drama. Davido’s protective stance and clarification have put the rumors to rest, but the incident serves as a reminder of the fine line between public interest and personal boundaries in the world of celebrity culture. Fans are now left to focus on his album “5” and the promotional efforts with FoodCourt, while the debate over celebrity advice rages on in the comments section.
