Daniel Regha Criticizes Wizkid’s Performance on Asake's Song
Critic Daniel Regha critiques Wizkid's contribution to Asake's song 'MMS,' sparking debate on the value of big-name collaborations.
Nigerian critic Daniel Regha has once again stirred conversation in the music community with his candid opinion on Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid. In a recent tweet, Regha took aim at Wizkid’s collaboration with Asake on the song “MMS” from Asake’s latest project, Lungu Boy, which features a total of 15 tracks.
Daniel Regha, known for his blunt critiques, expressed his disappointment with Wizkid’s contribution to “MMS.” According to Regha, Wizkid's presence on the track felt more like a marketing strategy than an artistic necessity. He argued that the Blessings singer's verse was lackluster, suggesting that it wouldn’t have impacted the song if Wizkid had not been featured. Regha's comment underscores a growing conversation about the role of big names in collaborations and whether their contributions are always substantial or merely symbolic.
In his tweet, Regha wrote:
"Wizkid is more of a name than an artiste at the moment. He added nothing to “MMS” artistically speaking, as it would’ve made no difference if he wasn’t featured. Asake carried the song with his verse (which isn’t all that great lyrically), plus the chorus gave life to the track. The track is a solid 4/10 tho. No offense."

Regha’s assessment also included a critique of the song itself, where he acknowledged Asake's dominant presence but pointed out that even Asake's lyrical performance was not exceptionally strong. However, he did concede that the chorus added vibrancy to the track, which he rated a mere 4 out of 10. This rating has sparked discussions among fans and critics alike, with some agreeing with Regha's view, while others defend Wizkid's artistic choices.
