Dangote Rolls Out New Refund Policy for Petrol

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has rolled out a refund policy for consumers who purchase Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), or petrol, at prices that exceed the advertised rates at its partner filling stations throughout Nigeria. This decision comes in response to the recent decrease in the gantry price from N890 per litre to N825 per litre.

The revised pricing framework applies to transactions at filling stations like AP (Ardova Plc), Heyden, and MRS. This move showcases the company’s dedication to ensuring that Nigerians take advantage of the price drop, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at boosting the economy.

As of Sunday, March 2, 2025, the company has confirmed that it will provide refunds of N65 per litre to marketers who purchased over 200,000 metric tonnes of PMS at the previous gantry price of N890 per litre prior to the implementation of the new rate of N825 per litre. Starting February 27, 2025, this initiative aims to prevent losses for the company’s partners due to the price adjustments, allowing the reduced rates to be felt nationwide for the advantage of consumers.

Additionally, Dangote Refinery has called upon other marketers to extend these benefits to consumers, fostering a collective effort to provide affordable and high-quality products. The company condemned any practices of excessive price increases tied to the new pricing structure, categorizing such actions as unpatriotic and detrimental to Nigerians.

To promote fair practices, Dangote Refinery encourages customers who pay more than the advertised rates from its partners to report the transactions, along with their receipts, in order to receive a full refund for the excess amount. The approved rates per litre are established as follows: MRS: N860 in Lagos, N870 in the South-West, N880 in the North, and N890 in the South-South and South-East; Heyden and AP: N865 in Lagos, N875 in the South-West, N885 in the North, and N895 in the South-South and South-East.

With the newly set gantry price at N825 per litre, the refinery assures that no individual in Nigeria should pay more than N900 per litre for PMS, regardless of their location or petrol station. This initiative further underscores Dangote’s commitment to offering high-quality, eco-friendly fuel that improves vehicle performance and supports public health.

By aligning its initiatives with President Bola Tinubu’s goal for energy self-sufficiency, Dangote Refinery is committed to bolstering Nigeria’s economic growth while ensuring access to affordable, top-notch energy solutions. This program is part of the company’s larger mission to aid in creating a sustainable and prosperous future for Nigeria, standing alongside the Nigerian populace in the pursuit of energy security.
