This marks a historic casting decision, as Erivo joins a select few women who have portrayed Jesus in a major production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s legendary rock opera.
Originally released as a concept album before making its Broadway debut in 1971, Jesus Christ Superstar is a powerful retelling of Jesus’ final days through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.
