Cubana Chiefpriest Joins Okorocha in Plea for Nnamdi Kanu’s Release
Cubana Chiefpriest joins Senator Rochas Okorocha in urging Nnamdi Kanu’s release, emphasizing its importance for restoring peace and stability in Nigeria’s South East.
Businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chiefpriest, has joined Senator Rochas Okorocha in advocating for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). This comes amid growing calls for peace and stability in Nigeria’s South East region.
During a valedictory session in honor of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, Okorocha appealed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio to facilitate Kanu’s release. Supporting this plea, Chiefpriest shared a video of Okorocha’s remarks on Instagram, expressing the collective grief of the Igbo people.
Chiefpriest highlighted the severe socio-economic and cultural disruptions caused by Kanu’s prolonged incarceration since June 2021. He noted that unrest in the region has limited access to ancestral lands and caused significant loss of lives and properties.
He wrote:
“@senator_akpabio Those plea[s] from Owelle Ndi Igbo [Okorocha] is all we ask for our dear in-law. Let OHAMADIKE Ndi Igbo, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, come back home soon. It’s almost five years now. We all have not had access to our hometown. Only his release can restore peace back in our region. We have lost so much—lives & properties—we need to build back South East ASAP. Make una help us.”
The South East has faced persistent insecurity since Kanu’s arrest, with rising violence tied to the political climate surrounding his detention. Many stakeholders believe that his release is a critical step toward restoring peace, rebuilding communities, and fostering unity in the region.
