Court restrains PDP, INEC from excluding Obaseki

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and others have been ordered by a High Court of Justice in Ekpoma, Edo State, to refrain from removing, preventing, or ostensibly excluding Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, or any other candidate who has been approved by the party from running in the gubernatorial primary scheduled for June 25, 2020. The Independent National Electoral Commission, Hon. Andy Ikhajiangbe, Peter Akhimien, Tony Aziegbemi, and the Peoples Democratic Party are the defendants in this case.

In order to prevent INEC from rejecting the names of any of the candidates listed in paragraph 2 above, particularly Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, as legitimate candidates who have been duly vetted and approved by the second defendant to run in the primary election set for June 25, 2020, in any report of the monitoring of the aforementioned primaries pending the hearing of the Motion On Notice, the plaintiffs, Felix Irioh and Tom Irehobhude, filed a lawsuit before the court.
