Court remands chemist accused of raping 9-year-old girl to death In Kano

A Kano Magistrate Court, located in the No-man’s-land area of Sabon Gari, has ordered the detention of a local chemist, Manniru Ibrahim Fanisa, following allegations of rape leading to the death of a nine-year-old girl. Fanisa is accused of sexually assaulting Rumaisa Sadiq after she was brought to him for malaria treatment.
According to State Counsel Barrister Zainab Aliko, the young girl's death resulted from the assault. Fanisa has pleaded not guilty to the charges of rape and homicide, which are in violation of Sections 283 and 221 of the Penal Code.
Judge Hajara Safiyyu Garba ruled to remand Fanisa in a correctional facility while setting the next court date for September 30, 2024. The case has drawn significant attention due to its grave nature and the tragic outcome for the young victim.
