Court Dismisses Bobrisky’s N200 Million Lawsuit Against EFCC and National Assembly
A Federal High Court in Lagos has thrown out Bobrisky’s fundamental rights suit against the EFCC, rejecting his claims of harassment and awarding no damages.
A Federal High Court in Lagos has dismissed a fundamental rights suit filed by crossdresser Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, better known as Bobrisky, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Bobrisky had sought N200 million in damages from the EFCC for alleged psychotic trauma and N1 billion from the National Assembly for violating his right to a fair hearing. He also sought a court order to prevent the EFCC and National Assembly from harassing, detaining, or declaring him wanted.
The crossdresser’s case had gained attention after social media influencer Martins Otse leaked an audio claiming Bobrisky paid the EFCC N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him. However, in his ruling, Justice Alexander Owoeye stated that Bobrisky’s claims lacked merit and were unsupported by credible evidence.
The judge further ruled that the claims of rights violations against the EFCC and the National Assembly were unfounded and dismissed the suit. No damages were awarded to Bobrisky. The EFCC's spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the ruling in a statement issued on Friday.
