Popular skit maker Gilmore recently sparked conversation with his remarks about the contrasting levels of support within Nigeria’s entertainment industries. In an interview with Hip TV, he claimed that Nigerian content creators are far more supportive of each other than musicians, which he believes is a driving force behind their growing success.
Highlighting the influence of social media, Gilmore explained how the shift in media consumption has benefited content creators:
"Content creators enjoy massive success because it [the content-creating industry] is more supportive than the music industry," he stated. “This is 2024; everybody is on their phone. People no longer watch TV. You can make money off social media.”
During the interview, he also shared some personal tidbits, revealing that afrobeats star Ayra Starr is his ideal woman while singer Niniola was his childhood crush.
Gilmore's comments have since ignited discussions online about the evolving dynamics in Nigeria’s entertainment scene.
