Community note labels VeryDarkMan’s claim of NGO website hack and ₦180m theft ‘false’
A community note has debunked VeryDarkMan’s claim that ₦180 million was stolen from his NGO via a website hack, clarifying that funds could not be accessed through the site.
A community note has debunked VeryDarkMan’s claims that his NGO lost ₦180 million due to a website hack, labeling the assertion as false.
The note, attached to a post featuring a video of the popular online personality, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, clarified that even if the site had been compromised, it would not have led to the theft of any funds. VeryDarkMan had initially claimed that ₦180 million out of ₦200 million in donations was stolen after hackers targeted his NGO’s website.
The community note directly contradicted his statement, pointing out that the website doesn’t handle financial transactions or store funds. Instead, donations are processed through a secure bank account, making the alleged hack irrelevant to the supposed loss of money.
The note explained:
“The NGO’s website (mvoi4all.com) does not store or manage payments. Hacking it would not affect the Zenith Bank account (1313679008) where donations are received. This claim is false.”
VeryDarkMan’s story has ignited widespread criticism and speculation, with many questioning the validity of his claims. Despite the growing scrutiny, he has yet to provide concrete evidence to support his allegations. Meanwhile, some public figures have dismissed his story as misleading, while others have speculated that the missing funds may have been diverted for other purposes.
The controversy continues to fuel conversations online, as Nigerians demand transparency and accountability from the influencer.
