Nollywood star Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha shares how she learned Yoruba to portray an Igbo queen married to a Yoruba king in Netflix’s “Seven Doors.”

Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha has shared her journey to mastering Yoruba for her role in the Netflix series Seven Doors.

In the series, Akpotha plays an Igbo queen married to a Yoruba king, portrayed by Femi Adebayo, in a story exploring kingship, kinship, love, betrayal, and redemption. The role demanded fluency in Yoruba, which Akpotha had to learn specifically for the project.

Speaking during a TVC interview alongside her co-star, Akpotha explained the challenges of learning the language:
“I had to learn Yoruba for my role in Seven Doors. The Yoruba used in the movie wasn’t the regular one spoken in Lagos; I had to pay close attention to the tone.”

Her dedication to authenticity adds depth to the series, making it a must-watch for fans of Nollywood and cultural storytelling.
