Charles Idahosa Blames Governor Obaseki's Leadership for PDP’s Defeat in Edo Gubernatorial Election
APC chieftain Charles Idahosa blames Governor Godwin Obaseki's leadership style and mismanagement for the PDP's loss in the September 21 gubernatorial election in Edo State.
In a recent interview with Sunday Vanguard, Hon. Charles Idahosa, a former member of the PDP Board of Trustees and now a leader within the APC, asserted that Governor Godwin Obaseki's leadership style contributed to the PDP's defeat in the gubernatorial election on September 21 in Edo State. Idahosa said that Obaseki was bad at handling relationships and seemed ungrateful, which caused problems within the party.
Idahosa rejected accusations of cheating in the election, saying it was honest and fair. He remembered that the APC helped Obaseki win his first election, but when Obaseki joined the PDP, he ignored the people who had supported him. Idahosa pointed out that Obaseki made mistakes with important job appointments. This included leaving out 14 lawmakers and canceling judges’ appointments, which pushed voters away. He also blamed Obaseki for not following important traditions, like not visiting the Oba of Benin during a PDP rally, which he said damaged the party's reputation.
Idahosa recognized that the PDP is taking legal action about the election results, but he said that Obaseki's loss was expected because of these issues.
