Canadian Woman Arrested at Lagos Airport for Smuggling Synthetic Cannabis

**Rephrased Text:**

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 41-year-old Canadian woman, Adrienne Munju, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, for smuggling a large quantity of 'Canadian Loud,' a potent synthetic cannabis strain.

Adrienne was detained during the clearance of passengers from a KLM flight from Canada on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday.

Adrienne, visiting Nigeria for the first time, was found with 74 parcels of the illegal drug, weighing 35.20 kilograms, hidden in two of her three bags. She admitted to being recruited online to smuggle the drugs for 10,000 Canadian dollars, which she needed to pay for her master's degree in Canada.

In another operation, NDLEA officers in Port Harcourt intercepted over 13 million pills of opioids and 338,253 bottles of codeine syrup, valued at over N9 billion on the streets.
