Burna Boy becomes the most streamed Nigerian artist on Apple Music

Officially, Burna Boy is the most streamed Nigerian artist on Apple Music. The announcement came from Apple Music’s special initiative, “Oshe Naija,” which celebrates Nigeria's musical diversity and the country’s contributions to global sounds. This accomplishment adds him to the elite class of the most influential artists in the music industry worldwide, which shows more dominance after he emerged on the international scene in 2018 with his song "Ye."

His latest album, I Told Them..., has shattered records, topping the Apple Music albums chart in 69 countries, making it the highest-charting African album to date.

In observance of Nigeria's 64th independence, Apple Music released the top 10 most streamed Nigerian artists, and Burna Boy topped the list. Other modern artists that made the list are Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Asake, who have also elated their fans on the platform. Burna Boy is not just a consistent album churner but has also placed himself and Afrobeats and African music in a vantage point.

This feat is contained in the company's Apple Music Campaign, tagged "Oshe Naija," which seeks to bring to the forefront the impact Nigerian artists have made in the world's music industry. The campaign also entails continued production of some of Nigeria's best talents and an intensifying playlist on Nigeria's musical antecedent.
