Burna Boy makes history as the first African artist with Grammy nominations for six consecutive years, while Tems leads Nigerian artists at the 67th Grammys with three nominations.
Nigerian superstar Damini Ogulu, famously known as Burna Boy, has etched his name in history as the first African artist to receive Grammy nominations for six consecutive years. Since 2018, the "African Giant" has maintained a streak of Grammy nods, a milestone rarely achieved by any African artist.
With this achievement, Burna Boy has now earned a total of 11 Grammy nominations, though he has only taken home one win. His latest nomination comes in the Best African Music Performance category for his hit track "Higher," solidifying his influence on the global music stage.
In addition, fellow Nigerian sensation Tems stands out at the 67th Grammy Awards as the Nigerian artist with the most nominations this year, securing nods in three categories. Tems' work is recognized in the Best Global Music Album, Best African Music Performance, and Best R&B Song categories for her tracks "Born In The Wild," "Love Me Jeje," and "Burning." With these new nominations, her Grammy tally rises to eight, further establishing her growing prominence in the international music scene.
