Renowned American singer Bruno Mars has shattered the record for the highest number of monthly listeners on Spotify, thanks to the seasonal popularity of his Christmas tracks. Songs like “White Christmas,” “24k Christmas,” and “That’s Why I Like Christmas” have propelled his monthly listeners to an unprecedented 140 million during the holiday season.
Ariana Grande has also made history, becoming the most-streamed female artist in Spotify’s history. Her monthly listener count soared to 117.319 million, surpassing Taylor Swift's previous record, as festive streaming spiked during the holidays.
In a separate achievement, Spotify crowned Burna Boy as the most-streamed African artist of 2024. South African singer Tyla, alongside Nigerian stars Ayra Starr, Rema, and Tems, also featured prominently as top-streamed African artists globally this year.
