The news of his passing was officially confirmed by the spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olatunde Abdulazeez, on Wednesday.

Adebayo Alao-Akala, a retired police officer, was a prominent political figure in Oyo State. Before becoming governor, he served as Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government Area. He was elected as Deputy Governor from 2003 to 2007 and later assumed office as Governor from 2007 to 2011 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Born on June 3, 1950, in Ogbomoso, Adebayo Alao-Akala attended Osupa Baptist Day School in his hometown before continuing his education at Kamina Barracks Middle School, 5th Battalion of Infantry, in Tamale, Ghana.

Circumstances Surrounding His Death

According to sources close to the family, Adebayo Alao-Akala had recently returned to Ogbomoso from Abuja, where he attended the birthday celebration of former House of Representatives Majority Leader, Mulikat Akande-Adeola.

Reports indicate that he was active on Tuesday evening, holding meetings with associates including Adebayo Alao-Akala. However, he was later discovered unresponsive in his room on Wednesday morning. His remains have been deposited at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) morgue in Ogbomoso.
