Brazil's police closely examining Man Utd's Antony
The Brazilian police's investigation into Manchester United winger Antony's alleged domestic violence has resulted in no charges being brought, although prosecutors may still decide to look into the allegations.
Although no charges have been filed in response to Brazilian police's inquiry into Manchester United winger Antony's alleged domestic abuse, prosecutors may still choose to investigate the claims. The Greater Manchester Police are still looking into the 24-year-old, who has denied any wrongdoing. Three women reported domestic abuse against Antony in September of last year; he has not been charged or placed under custody in Brazil or the UK and refutes the claims.
The player's attorneys released the following statement: "The defense of player Antony Matheus dos Santos hereby confirms that the police investigation opened at the fifth Women's Defense Precinct of Sao Paulo, of the Civil Police, was closed without any police indictment. "The defence has always believed that the investigations, that run under confidentiality, would prove Antony's innocence." Although there was no indictment at the end of the police inquiry, officials told BBC News Brazil that the matter has not been withdrawn because the prosecutor's office is still analyzing it and may choose to conduct a second, independent investigation.

After leaving Ajax for Manchester United in September 2022 for £82 million, Antony became the club's second-most expensive acquisition. Brazilian news site UOL released accusations made by Antony's ex-partner Gabriela Cavallin during the international break in September 2023.
