Bobrisky Tell Nigerians What He Experienced In Prison, Warns Against Naira Abuse
Bobrisky's release from Kirikiri after a six-month sentence for naira abuse brings a stern warning to fans: respect the law to avoid imprisonment. The crossdresser reflects on his experience and pledges to educate followers on legal compliance, emphasizing that even minor infractions can lead to severe consequences.
Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on Monday, following a six-month incarceration for the misuse of the naira by spraying it at a public event. In a statement to GoldMyneTV after his release, Bobrisky urged his followers to respect the law, especially regarding the legal restrictions on spraying money at social gatherings.
"Follow the rules, abide by the law," Bobrisky advised. "Don’t spray money, unless you want to become a resident of Kirikiri." His comments underscore the seriousness of adhering to legal norms, highlighting that even seemingly minor infractions can result in significant consequences.
Reflecting on his time in custody, Bobrisky expressed appreciation for those who supported him, stating, "I’m only focusing on my friends who were there for me, and I’m grateful. I’m not thinking about any other person."
Upon his release, Bobrisky hosted a small gathering to mark the occasion, despite the legal troubles that led to his imprisonment. The sentence, handed down on April 12, 2024, was a result of violating currency regulations.
During his court appearance at the Federal High Court in Lagos, Bobrisky expressed remorse and promised to use his platform to educate others on the importance of following currency laws. He pleaded, "My Lord, I wish that you could give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money. I will do a video on my page, and I will educate people about spraying money. I will not repeat this, My Lord. I regret my actions, My Lord."
Throughout his incarceration, Bobrisky was treated according to standard procedures for all inmates. A senior official at the Kirikiri facility, who requested anonymity, confirmed that Bobrisky was examined upon admission, with no evidence of gender realignment or modification of genital organs discovered. The official stated, "Bobrisky made a public declaration that he was a male, and court proceedings are public records. Every inmate brought into a facility during admission is examined. He was equally examined, and no realignment of gender or genital organ was discovered. The male biological features were the same."
The official further explained that Bobrisky was allocated a cell and bed space, akin to arrangements in a boarding school. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to laws and the potential repercussions of neglecting them.
