Benjamin Kalu, the current Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, made a strong statement, asserting that he will not stand by as the Number 6 citizen of Nigeria and allow an outsider, specifically a member of the Labour Party (LP), govern his state.
Kalu made it clear that he is determined to ensure that Alex Otti, the current Governor of Abia State, does not win re-election. His stance is not based on Otti’s competency or the quality of his governance but solely on the fact that Otti is from Peter Obi’s Labour Party and not from Kalu’s party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Summing up his intentions, Kalu expressed that his goal is to “give back Abia State as appreciation” to President Bola Tinubu for the “good works” he believes Tinubu has done for Nigeria.
