Become our strategic partner, UI DVC tells Globacom

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the University of Ibadan (UI), Professor Aderonke M. Baiyeroju, has called on telecommunications giant Globacom to strengthen its relationship with the institution through a strategic partnership. This appeal was made during a courtesy visit by a delegation from Globacom, led by the Director of Sales, Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi. The partnership is expected to focus on key areas such as information and communication technology (ICT), telecommunications services, and corporate social responsibility.

Professor Baiyeroju praised Globacom for its role in providing affordable data services in Nigeria and emphasized the university's commitment to offering students skills in fields like Artificial Intelligence and IT. She highlighted the need for collaboration on initiatives like the "Smart Campus" project, which aims to enhance the digital infrastructure of the university, boost e-learning, and support technological advancements. This partnership would not only benefit UI’s students and staff but also keep the institution at the forefront of educational innovation in Nigeria.

In response, Globacom expressed its interest in working with the university on several initiatives, including fixed internet services, smart learning solutions, and ICT infrastructure development. They also proposed projects such as sponsored data for learning management systems and smart ID cards for students.
