Bandits Kill Katsina Governor's Aide, Wife During Raid
Gyaza, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) for Kankia LGA, was reportedly killed during the raid, along with his wife.
Gunmen suspected to be bandits launched a brutal attack on the residence of Alhaji Sanusi Ango Gyaza, a prominent aide to the Katsina State Governor, in the Gyaza area of Kankia Local Government Area (LGA). The assault, which occurred on Friday night, tragically claimed the lives of Gyaza and his wife. The assailants further deepened the tragedy by abducting Gyaza’s other wife during the raid.
Gyaza, who had previously served as the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Kankia LGA, was well-respected in the community. His murder, alongside his wife’s, has sent shockwaves through the region, underscoring the relentless insecurity that continues to plague many parts of Nigeria.
Details of the attack remain scant, as the authorities have yet to provide a comprehensive account of the incident. When contacted, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, responded briefly, stating, "I will get back to you,” leaving many questions unanswered and the community in a state of heightened anxiety.
