Ayodele Fayose Rules Out Reconciliation Between Wike and Governor Fubara

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has dismissed any chance of mending the conflict between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. Speaking on Channels Television's Sunday Politics show on October 13, 2024, Fayose said it's unlikely a political solution can unite the two, as trust between them has been severely damaged due to the ongoing crisis in Rivers State.

Fayose also reflected on his earlier advice to Governor Fubara, where he warned him against opposing Wike.

"In a state like Rivers, where we're friends with the former governor, now the Minister of FCT, my advice was given in good faith based on how a leader should support a successor. What I said is what I believe should have happened," he explained.

Fayose called the situation "unfortunate" and believes it's now too late to repair the relationship. "The trust has been broken, and even if you want to fix things, how do you rebuild that trust? I believe it’s too late to call for reconciliation," he concluded.
