ASUU denies giving Nigerian government 21-day strike notice
ASUU has dismissed claims of a 21-day strike notice to the Federal Government as false.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has firmly refuted circulating claims that it has issued a 21-day strike notice to the Federal Government. Recent online reports suggested that ASUU was preparing for a nationwide strike due to unresolved agreements with the government, with the purported notice supposedly coming from a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a statement, ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke dismissed these reports as mere "social media talk." Osodeke clarified that no official strike notice had been issued and reassured the public that any future decisions by the union would be communicated formally.
He emphasized, "These are just rumors circulating on social media. If the union decides to take any action, we will announce it officially and provide the necessary documentation." This clarification aims to quell speculation and reinforce ASUU's commitment to transparent communication regarding any potential industrial actions.
