Asake Reveals Wizkid Begged To Be In His Song

In a surprising twist within the Nigerian music scene, singer Ololade Ahmed, popularly known as Asake, recently revealed an unexpected collaboration story with music icon Wizkid. During a fan interaction session on Instagram, Asake shared that Wizkid reached out to him to be featured on the track "MMS" from his new album, Lungu Boy.

Initially, Asake had another artist in mind for the feature. However, when the song's producer, P. Prime, played the track for Wizkid, he was instantly captivated. “I didn’t know I was going to put Wizkid on that song, to be honest,” Asake admitted. “I had someone else in mind for that song, but P. Prime played the song to Wiz, and Wiz said, ‘I f*ck with this song, I want to jump on it.’”

This collaboration turned out to be a defining moment for "MMS," which quickly broke the record for the biggest first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria, with an impressive 870,000 streams. The previous record was held by Wizkid's own track "IDK," featuring Zlatan Ibile, which had 626,000 streams.

Asake's entire album Lungu Boy has also been making waves, setting a new record for the biggest first-day streams for an African album on Spotify, with a staggering 9.42 million streams globally. These achievements not only highlight Asake’s growing influence in the music industry but also underscore the power of unexpected collaborations in bringing fresh and exciting music to audiences.
