Any giving wey involve camera get agenda – Comedienne Tomama
Comedienne Tomama calls out people who use philanthropy to hide wrongdoings, noting that publicized charity often carries hidden motives.
Nigerian comedienne Tomama recently shared a thought-provoking message on Instagram, challenging how some individuals use philanthropy to mask questionable deeds. She highlighted that in Nigeria, one of the quickest ways to gain admiration is through gift-giving, especially when the charitable acts are broadcast for public recognition.
Tomama observed that many people go out of their way to publicize their philanthropic efforts, suggesting that such gestures, once captured on camera, often have ulterior motives. This, she implies, can lead to a level of admiration so deep that even serious wrongdoings may be excused by the public.
In her words, she writes:
“You see Nigerians, eh, to win their love, just act like a helper – do regular giveaways, cover hospital bills – but always make sure the camera’s rolling. Soon, people adore you, and in their eyes, you can do no wrong, even if you commit a serious offense. Any good deed involving a camera, to me, already has its own agenda.”
