Anthony Joshua Handed 28-Day Suspension After Knockout Loss, Vows Comeback

Former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been handed a 28-day boxing suspension following his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois at London’s Wembley Stadium last Saturday. The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) imposed the suspension, a routine measure after a fighter suffers a TKO or KO, as outlined by the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports.

Mirror UK reported, "AJ has been banned for just under a month by the British Boxing Board of Control. It’s common for fighters to receive a medical suspension after experiencing a TKO or KO loss."

This latest defeat is Joshua’s fourth career loss, adding to his surprising 2019 defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr. and back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022. Although the suspension won’t immediately affect his plans, as no future fights are scheduled, it has reignited speculation about his boxing future.

Despite the setback, Joshua remains determined to reclaim the world title, dismissing any thoughts of retirement. In a video message posted on his X account, he expressed gratitude to his fans, saying, "We came up short, but we must focus on the positives. That’s the mindset we need — a positive perspective. Look at what we’ve achieved in just 11 years; it’s phenomenal. I want to thank every one of you for supporting me. This journey isn’t over yet."
