Another drone attack throws Ukraine into a fresh battlefront

The soldiers within, like many others in this conflict, have grown to revere the small cube they name "sugar" because it alerts them to potential threats overhead.

Three mushroom-shaped antennas that are part of separate drone-jamming equipment are mounted on the roof of the vehicle. A shield of protection emanating from the automobile will deter some, but not all, of the Russian assault drones that are circling over this battleground.

Senior Lt Yevhenii, 53, states from the front passenger seat that "it has detected the Zala Lancet Russian drones," referring to one of the most potent long-range Russian drones and its targeting drone. "Is that why we’re driving so fast?" Knowing that the drone-jamming antenna won't work against a Lancet, I inquire.

Yevhenii from the Khartia Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard says, "We're not a priority for them, but it's still better not to slow down because it's very dangerous."

Numerous drones are being used by the Ukrainian army to retaliate, and there are many of them along this front. According to a Ukrainian soldier, they murder 100 Russians every day.

Drone cameras typically capture the final moments of guys in a panic, their arms flailing and weapons shooting before they are slain. The 37-year-old drone commander of the brigade, known by his call name Aeneas, claims that there is little prospect of life for Russians and his soldiers alike if they are not indoors.
