Bayern Munich’s dynamic defender, Alphonso Davies, has once again showcased his appreciation for African music, particularly afrobeats, by naming tracks from Nigerian superstars Burna Boy and Rema among his all-time favorite songs. In a recent interview shared by the Bundesliga on social media, the Canadian international revealed his top five songs, with Burna Boy's "Sittin’ On Top Of The World" and Rema’s "Ozeba" taking the top two spots.
“These are my top five songs; number one, ‘Sitting On Top Of The World’ by Burna Boy. Number two is another afrobeats song, ‘Ozeba’ by Rema,” Davies enthusiastically shared, highlighting his deep connection to the vibrant and globally influential genre of afrobeats.
The list doesn’t stop there. Davies, known for his electrifying pace on the field, also included "Champions League" by MHD, "Luciano" by Fendi Drip, and "Now You’re Gone" by Basshunter to round out his top five. This eclectic mix reflects Davies' diverse musical taste, blending the rhythmic beats of afrobeats with European and global influences.
Davies' affinity for Nigerian music is not a recent development. The talented left-back, who is often seen as one of the most exciting young players in world football, has previously listed Davido’s tracks "Legend Can Never Die" and "No Competition" as part of his pre-game playlist. These songs, which pump up his adrenaline and get him in the zone before stepping onto the pitch, further underscore his appreciation for the energetic and empowering vibes of afrobeats.
