Ahmadu Bello Foundation donates N20m to Maiduguri flood victims
The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) has donated N20 million to support flood victims in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has donated N20 million in cash for the victims of the flooded areas, particularly Maiduguri, Borno State, as part of the massive call to tackle the effects of severe flooding. The announcement was made during the courtesy visit by the Director General of the Foundation, Engr. Abubakar Gambo Umar to Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum. The funds are aimed at mitigating the suffering of people and businesses affected by floods which not only caused huge losses of property.
Apart from the provision of the cash donation, the Foundation extends its heartfelt condolences to the flood victims while making a point of the need to support the flooded areas. Umar called for his representatives and other kind-hearted fellows and organizations to contribute to the relief. He underscore the need for unity to help the affected people rebuild their lives and source of income.
Governor Zulum, in his message, appreciated the donation and made a stand that the monies collected would be used for the urgent needs of flood victims. The state has received many donations from different organizations; Jaiz Bank has donated one hundred million Naira and Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani, fifty million Naira.
These floods have elicited a massive response from top leadership with government and private institutions, and relief operations have intensified throughout Borno State.
