AGN reveals shocking reason for suspending Halima Abubakar
Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has been indefinitely suspended by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) following accusations of slander and professional misconduct, pending further disciplinary action.
Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has been handed an indefinite suspension by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) following serious accusations of professional misconduct. The AGN disclosed that Abubakar was at the center of a two-year covert investigation that revealed her involvement in slanderous activities, tarnishing the reputation of fellow actors and prominent figures within Nollywood.
The Guild’s Special Secret Investigation Panel, which had been closely monitoring blogs and online sources since 2022, found that Abubakar had been spreading false allegations, including claims of extramarital affairs involving influential individuals within the entertainment industry. These revelations have led to her immediate suspension, with the AGN declaring that she will face the National Disciplinary Committee to determine the final consequences of her actions. During her suspension, Abubakar is barred from participating in any AGN-related activities or film projects.
In the official statement released by the AGN, the organization underscored its commitment to upholding professionalism within Nollywood, noting that further investigations are underway, particularly concerning other members linked to the release of names allegedly associated with the Senate President.
The statement emphasized: “After two years of investigations, the Panel confirmed that Miss Halima Abubakar was responsible for disseminating damaging information. She is therefore placed on indefinite suspension and will face the National Disciplinary Committee to determine the full extent of her punishment.”
This development has sent ripples through the Nigerian entertainment industry, sparking discussions on the need for accountability and ethical conduct among its members.
