Actress Jumoke George warns women against BBL surgery
Nollywood actress Jumoke George cautions Nigerian women against BBL surgeries, urging them to embrace self-love and avoid risking their lives after a tragic surgery-related death.
Veteran Nollywood actress, Jumoke George, has issued a strong caution to Nigerian women about the dangers of Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgeries, urging them to reconsider risking their lives for cosmetic enhancements.
In a heartfelt post shared on her Instagram, Jumoke addressed the alarming trend, following the recent tragic death of a 36-year-old woman, Abiola, during a botched butt enlargement surgery in Lagos. The incident, which led to the arrest of the doctor, Idara Bassey, has sparked a wave of concern and discussion about the safety of such procedures.
Reacting to the tragedy, Jumoke expressed her disbelief, questioning the mindset of women who opt for such surgeries. "Women, what is the color of our problem? Because if I say I understand, I am lying," she wrote passionately. She went on to reference the Bible, reminding her followers that they are created in God’s perfect image. "You females looking at me, whose image do you think you were created in? Are you telling God that He does not know what He was doing? God is perfect."
The actress lamented that while some people are blessed with long lives, they intentionally put themselves at risk by undergoing dangerous surgeries. “What are we really looking for?” she asked, calling for deeper reflection among women who feel pressured to alter their bodies.
Jumoke’s words have resonated with many on social media, sparking conversations about self-love, societal pressure, and the importance of prioritizing health over appearance in a world increasingly obsessed with physical perfection.
