Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has revealed that his attempt to secure the release of singer Speed Darlington, who was detained by the Nigeria Police, was unsuccessful.
Speed Darlington, whose real name is Darlington Okoye, was arrested on Tuesday during a performance in Owerri, Imo State, for allegedly cyberstalking fellow artist Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday night, Adeyanju provided an update on the situation, stating that the police had brought his client to Abuja from Owerri but had refused to grant him bail. The lawyer expressed frustration, commenting, "They have refused to release him on bail over allegations of defaming Burna Boy. Burna Boy, who sings about oppression, is now oppressing Akpi with the help of the police." This marks a further escalation in the ongoing dispute between the two artists.
