Afrobeats star Ayra Starr, known offstage as Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, recently opened up about how family and close friendships keep her grounded amid her rising fame.
In a candid conversation with Coco Jones for Rolling Stone’s *Musicians on Musicians* series, Ayra revealed that despite her global success, she still embraces the vibrant, sometimes noisy life at home in Nigeria, where she’s surrounded by her family. “When I go back home, I still live with my family. My brothers are making noise playing video games,” she laughed.
Ayra also shared that her friends play a key role in her life, especially when it comes to fashion. Through a lively group chat, she relies on their honest input on her style choices. “I still involve my friends in my life. We have a group chat where I solicit their opinions on what I wear,” she said. “I thank God for my friends and family. Although, sometimes, it gets overwhelming, and I have to disappear.”
