In a recent development concerning the ongoing situation involving gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her former record label, a lawsuit has been filed against Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM). This legal action comes shortly after VDM accused Chinwo of misappropriating funds from her shows, alleging that she failed to pay her former record label, which is owned by Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, also known as Eezee Tee.
VDM had claimed that Chinwo diverted approximately $345,000 related to Eezee Tee in his accusations against her. The lawsuit is being represented by Pelumi Olajengbesi, who serves as Mercy Chinwo’s legal counsel.

Chinwo’s legal team is requesting a court order that would require VDM to delete his statements, retract his allegations, and issue a public apology for what they describe as false and defamatory claims made against Chinwo. To support their demands, they have provided evidence such as emails and payment receipts, contending that these documents illustrate the unfounded nature of VDM’s allegations.

Additionally, it is worth noting that a Federal High Court in Lagos previously upheld an arrest warrant for Eezee Tee on February 17, 2025, concerning allegations of fraudulent conversion. The case was adjourned until March 6, 2025, for the arraignment of Eezee Tee.
In the fresh lawsuit, Olajengbesi characterized VDM’s social media posts as “libelous, malicious, spiteful, malevolent, and grossly defamatory,” stating that these remarks have significantly harmed Mercy Chinwo’s reputation. Olajengbesi emphasized that VDM is not a party to the dispute between Chinwo and Eezee Tee yet has misrepresented the situation in a manner that damages the singer’s image.
