Popular Nigerian media personality, Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, widely known as Nedu Wazobia, has taken legal action against social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly called VeryDarkMan (VDM). On Tuesday, February 24, 2025, Nedu, through his legal representatives, issued a formal notice to VDM, demanding a retraction of defamatory statements, a public apology, and compensation of ₦500 million for reputational damage.
According to the letter, VDM posted a 12-minute video on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, across his YouTube and Instagram platforms, titled “How Nedu diverted NGO scholarship meant for Nigerians.” The video allegedly contained false and defamatory claims, including accusations that Nedu fraudulently used artists Timaya and Kcee Limpopo to facilitate the mismanagement of scholarship funds.
Nedu’s legal team clarified that the Nedu Foundation was established to raise funds for students seeking admission into the Metropolitan School of Business and Management UK (MSBM), and Nedu was unaware of any alleged misappropriation. Furthermore, they stated that Nedu was never financially compensated for promoting or organizing the charity initiative. They also emphasized that Nedu is not the owner of Tokindrumz Picture and Media Ltd. but is merely a talent associated with the brand.

The letter included supporting documents to refute the allegations and laid out the following demands:
- Immediate Retraction – VDM must remove all defamatory videos related to Nedu from all his social media platforms within 24 hours.
- Public Apology – A formal apology must be published across VDM’s social media channels.
- Financial Compensation – ₦500 million is demanded as damages for the harm caused to Nedu’s reputation.

Failure to comply with these demands, the letter warns, will result in legal proceedings being instituted against VDM.
The legal team also noted that VDM attempted to circumvent potential legal consequences by misspelling the word fraud as fr@vd in his posts. Furthermore, they referenced prior investigations into MSBM by relevant authorities, which reportedly found no sufficient evidence to support the allegations. Despite this, they claim VDM has continued to post multiple videos repeating the same defamatory claims.
With the legal battle now looming, all eyes are on VDM to see how he will respond to the demands issued by Nedu and his legal representatives.
