Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the president of The Dangote Group, the group who recently launched the Dangote refinery. During a tour of the $20bn refinery with the Zambian minister for energy, Makozo Chikote, who visited Nigeria in order to seek collaboration with the president of dangote group to help provide solutions to Nigeria’s energy stability issues.

The president of The Dangote Group revealed that the Dangote $20bn petroleum refinery has reservoirs that store over 400 million litres of petrol that is capable of serving the entire country. He said during the tour,
“The refinery is producing enough refined products, like gasoline, diesel, and kerosene, to meet 100% of Nigeria’s requirements. This refinery is not only for Nigeria; it is for Africa. We must sustain the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) deal. We are trying to see how we trade with other African countries”.
The president also mentioned that arrangements were being put in place to get enough crude products to aid the refinery’s ramp-up plans in order to meet new customers’ needs as well.
Alhaji Dangote revealed that refineries across the world are shutting down because of the Dangote refinery he disclosed no refinery company in Africa and across Europe can produce the quality of crude Dangote refinery produces. A certain citizen took to his tiktok page to prove that petrol from Dangote refinery through it’s partner gas station lasts longer than the petrol from NNPC. This sparked nigerians interest in the petroleum product.
The Zambian minister for energy, Makozo Chikote, in his response said his takeaway from the Dangote Refinery working visit was that the Dangote group president, Aliko Dangote, is truly focused on the bigger picture for Africa. He also added
“In Zambia, we created an environment for the private sector to participate in the growth and development of our country. Currently, 100% of our petroleum is done by the private sector, we are targeting increased productivity in mining, agriculture, and other sectors. Your presentation is an immediate solution to our energy needs. We are trying to promote competition among our private players, we are looking at Dangote coming on board, which would lead to efficient, reliable, quality, and competitive products, and we want these done like yesterday.”
During a presentation analyzing the refinery’s production data, it was emphasized that the facility has the capacity to produce 104 million litres of various petroleum products daily.

“Our daily production includes 57 million litres of petrol, 20 million litres of jet fuel, and 37 million litres of diesel. With local consumption at just 46 million litres, the remaining 58 million litres will be exported daily,” Edwin explained.
The presentation also highlighted that the refinery supplies 33 million litres of PMS for local consumption each day, along with 10 million litres of diesel and 3 million litres of aviation fuel. Additionally, data from the tank farm revealed that the refinery has sufficient reservoirs to store fuel for several days.
