At the recently concluded 2025 MOBO Awards in Newcastle, Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr made history as the first Nigerian female artist to win Best International Act, fending off competition from global icons like Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, and Glorilla. She also took home the Best African Act award, further solidifying her rising global influence.
On the red carpet, Ayra Starr was asked about the possibility of collaborating with fellow Grammy winners Tems and Tyla, following their much-talked-about Detty December outings in Lagos. The singer responded affirmatively, referring to them as “her girls” and confirming that a collaboration is in the works.
Since breaking into the mainstream with her self-titled EP in 2021, Ayra Starr has continued to soar, delivering chart-topping hits like ‘Bloody Samaritan’ and ‘Rush’, both of which have gone diamond in France. Her latest single, ‘All The Love’, released in early 2025, showcases her signature blend of Afrobeats and R&B.
After securing Spotify’s biggest Afrobeats song of 2024, Ayra Starr is poised for another blockbuster year in 2025, with fans eagerly anticipating her upcoming collaborations and new music.
