Almost two years after the passing of Nigerian singer Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba), his wife, Wunmi, has opened up about her ongoing emotional turmoil, revealing that she has yet to find closure.
In a heartfelt interview with Chude Jideonwo, Wunmi expressed her grief, stating that her husband’s body remains in the Yaba mortuary, with no confirmed burial date.
“I haven’t had any closure since my husband died, and sometimes it feels like he’s still alive. He’s in Yaba morgue and still has not been buried—it’s so, so sad,” she said, fighting back tears.
Allegations Against Mohbad’s Father
Wunmi accused her father-in-law of deliberately delaying the burial, despite the fact that two autopsies—one government-led and one private—have been conducted.
“He has been cut open twice… There is no genuine reason why he’s still there. My father-in-law keeps saying the government isn’t letting Mohbad get justice, but he’s been manipulating the public.”
She also voiced concerns over her safety, claiming she receives daily death threats and feels increasingly unsafe.
“Sometimes I feel like God cheated my husband; he didn’t have to die. I either speak up or die in silence.”
Claims of Property Dispute
Wunmi further alleged that Mohbad’s father is trying to take control of her late husband’s assets and has even ridiculed her son, Liam, whom she shares with the late singer.
As the controversy continues, fans of Mohbad and supporters of Wunmi demand a resolution to the burial delay and inheritance dispute.
