35 die in road accident in Kaduna
A tragic road accident near Samunaka, Kaduna State, claimed at least 35 lives as a Maulud celebration convoy collided with an articulated vehicle. Over 35 others were injured, casting a shadow of grief over the festivities.
A devastating road accident has claimed the lives of at least thirty-five people near Samunaka in Kaduna State’s Lere Local Government Area. The victims, on their way to celebrate Maulud, were aboard a J5 bus that tragically collided head-on with an articulated vehicle, turning a day meant for joy into one of sorrow.
Malam Abdullahi, one of the Maulud organizers, described the heartbreaking aftermath, revealing that the group of about seventy, including women and children, was part of the traveling entourage. He personally counted the victims, with over thirty-five others seriously injured, now receiving treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
In a cruel twist, another vehicle from their convoy was involved in a separate accident with a motorcycle, further compounding the tragedy with more deaths and injuries. The authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but the incident has left the entire community in grief, casting a somber cloud over what should have been a moment of celebration.
