3 dead, 14 injured in Jigawa motor accident
Three dead and 14 injured after a J5 bus collided with a parked trailer in Jigawa State. Police confirm investigation is underway.
A tragic accident has claimed the lives of three people and left 14 others injured in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The incident occurred when a J5 bus collided with a stationary Dangote trailer along the old Gwaram Road.
According to a local resident, the unfortunate crash happened when the bus, carrying 17 passengers, struck a parked trailer on its route from Sara market to Laya village. The bus was identified with registration number KTG 196 XC, while the trailer bore the registration number BNK 447 XA.
Police spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that the accident was reported around 6:30 pm on Tuesday. He explained:
*"The driver, Wada Shuaibu of Laya village, lost control of the J5 bus and hit an empty Dangote trailer. The impact left several passengers with varying degrees of injuries."*
Upon receiving the report, police swiftly dispatched a team to the scene, evacuating the victims to Gwaram Cottage Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Sadly, three of the victims were later pronounced dead, and their bodies have since been handed over to their grieving families.
The police spokesperson further noted that investigations are underway, with efforts being made to apprehend the trailer driver, who was reportedly not at the scene at the time of the accident.
